Dealing With Google Reviews: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

We recently highlighted the importance of getting Google reviews for your business and their positive effect on Google’s ranking factors.  But what happens when your Google My Business (GMB) listing gets hit with a less than perfect review?  Luckily, there are a few options to deal with unflattering reviews for your business.  These include responding to the review directly, flagging the review as inappropriate, and even deleting reviews entirely. How To Delete Google Reviews

Google polices business reviews on their own using several policies.  When someone submits a business review, Google My Business reviews the content to make sure it does not violate any of its policies.  Some of these policies include:

  • Advertising/ Spam
  • Off-topic reviews
  • Impersonation
  • Conflict of interest
  • Sexually explicit material
  • Phone numbers, emails or web URLs
  • Profanity, offensive language or hate speech
  • Illegal or copy-written content
  • Personal or confidential information

Essentially, Google My Business reviews should be “honest representations of the customer experience”

When Snow Hits NH, Our Marketing Company Gets Cozy: Warm up With Some New Tunes

When the roads turn into sloppy mounds of slippery mashed potatoes, the safe choice is to stay in. Or at least only go out if it’s really going to be worth it (like a rare day of powder skiing in New Hampshire)

As much as we like hanging out (and working) with each other at our new office in Bedford, sometimes a snow day calls for a change of pace. With the whole team collaborating (with tools like Slack Invision, and Google Docs) things hum along no matter where we are. But the special rhythm of a snow day really comes out in the soundtracks that end up filling the day.  Maybe our list will keep you going on your next snow day, whether you’re a marketing company in New Hampshire hunkered down for the biggest storm of the year – or, just having a much needed mental health day.Read More…

Handy-Dandy Instagram Guide

Choosing Your Style

Just getting started on the ‘gram?  It’s good to have a theme and style for your feed.  Everything from the subject matter to the filters you use come together as your Instagram brand.  Are you a landscape photographer?  A photo opportunist?  Looking for a new place to share family photos?  Starting an Instagram account in the hopes of making your hamster instafamous?  Whichever it is, pick a theme and stick to it.

Capturing Photos for Instagram

Shout-out to Bond Polymers for hooking us up with these killer seats!

Instagram photos do not need to be taken within the app using the camera feature.  You can instead pull photos from your phone’s camera roll or even a large DSLR camera!  Keep in mind that it’s not the camera, it’s the photographer.  DSLR cameras can capture some amazing photos but iPhones, or almost any smartphone for that matter, are more than capable of getting the job done!

Here are a few ways to get more out of your smartphone camera:

  • Mess around with the focal point, exposure settings, and make sure there is decent lighting.
  • Shoot vertically or portrait-style !  This is crucial and I’ll explain why in the editing section below.
  • Use the phone’s grid feature and don’t forget about the rule of thirds!Read More…

One Size Fits None: Lessons Learned from Tesla’s Model 3 Launch

Tesla recently launched the Model 3. The $35,000 sedan that CEO Elon Musk hopes will bring electric vehicles into the mainstream. Most people are already familiar with Tesla’s other models, the extremely popular Model S sedan and their newer Model X suv, which at a base price of $70k and $80k respectively are out of most people’s price range. The reduced price and the growing network of Tesla superchargers bode well for launching them into the mainstream.Read More…

With Content Marketing, Variety is Key

When I started working at 4Walls I was in a lunch food rut. It was bad. What was the culprit of my lunchtime woes? My boring sandwich.

Before work I would sip coffee and regretfully assemble my sandwich for the day. White bread (off to a great start), mayo, iceberg lettuce, turkey, and pepper jack cheese. Doesn’t sound so bad, does it? Well try eating the same damn sandwich every day for a few weeks and tell me what you think. It doesn’t matter if you’re eating the world’s #1 sandwich- if you eat it every day it will eventually lose its gusto. The same applies for your content marketing efforts.Read More…

4 Walls Finds: The Right Tunes for the Job

Music & Productivity Meet

We’re only as good as our habits.  Habits good and bad create an interesting relationship, a balancing act between diversion and production.  For me, whether production means sitting down to write (for work or for pleasure) or getting on my bike for a long ride, the result is always positive. It’s that sweet, sweet dopamine – released and received  to resounding applause from Mr. Brain, who squeals “Do that thing again!”

Many times, that all starts with music.Read More…

can your company benefit from remarketing? probably…

Google has long been the Internet’s 800-pound gorilla so it should come as no surprise that they play a huge role in online advertising. Google’s AdWords (pay-per-click) program has become more and more important for covering the bases when it comes to search engine optimization (SEO). In other words, Google AdWords plays a big role in helping people find you on Google.  But there’s more to advertising on Google than text ads.Read More…

how to inbound | observations from the new guy

I’m the new guy at 4WALLS and being the new hire is never easy. It didn’t get any easier when I was tasked to take a fresh look at the company website (which I should mention was launched in April of 2014) and make suggestions with inbound marketing strategies in mind.   As you might guess this gets interesting for two reasons.

The first reason is that the 4WALLS website is their baby- their pride and joy. Our team designed and built a kick@$$ website from the scratch… So how do I tell my team that we can do a better job at building for our audience? Read More…

responsive design, tools of the trade, & the ever-evolving designer

A few years ago myself and my office-mates had our collective minds blown by responsive design. It wasn’t the fact that responsive design was “a thing” – But more by the pace at which responsive began its takeover. What started like Monty Python’s lonely King Arthur endlessly charging toward the Holy Grail quickly became something fierce and fresh, charging through the design community like a new and improved King Arthur and his Knights of Justice.

The push for responsive design began slowly.
